The Story of Our Homestead
The homestead was developed by Thomas H. and Bertha L. Ross, our parents, who purchased the five-acre plot of land in 1949 and built a home as they began their marriage and family. They began the family's farm on those original five acres and subsequently purchased additional acres on which they planted cotton, tobacco, corn, and soybeans for market. They also planted vegetables and raised chickens, pigs, and cows for family food. Alongside their farm, Thomas worked as a laborer for a petroleum company. We, their children, are proud of the models our parents were and of the legacy they left.
Building on Their Legacy through a New Vision
We are proud of what our parents accomplished. Our vision is to share the beauty and warmth of the homestead we enjoyed by hosting your special occasion, work retreat, or short get-away.
